Haiku Series at PhinneyWood Artwalk
It's PhinneyWood Artwalk this weekend, and I got some new work showing at Phinney Center Gallery! I'm calling it the Haiku Series - it's an attempt at reimagine Haiku by classic Japanese masters. Some preview below - opening reception is tomorrow from 6 to 9 pm, and I'm extremely fortunate to be sharing the gallery space with the super talented Enfu a.k.a. Samurai Cowboy - see you there!

Home Sweet Home
I finally return home to Taipei for a 3-week visit last October after being away for seven years - so much has changed, yet some familiar corners of the city remained the same - walking down side streets brought back so many memories... why did I stay away for so long?

Greenwood-Phinney Art Walk!
I'm afraid to count the years since the last time I picked up my paint brushes.
I was a student at the Art Institute of Seattle, learning from the late legendary William "Bill" Cumming, youngest member of the Northwest School. He taught me so much - not only techniques, but attitude - to be free with what I feel and let the colors and brush strokes take over.
But just like many in the same class, I hit the ground running as soon as I graduated, and design has been my life ever since.
For a while there, I thought I could no longer create without the circumstances provided by clients. Then came an opportunity to submit artwork for Greenwood-Phinney Art Walk. And then, my first ever show on this last Friday the 13th - in my own neighborhood here in Seattle.
It was liberating.
1 is the loneliest number of all.
2 is for those captured by love.
3 makes a crowd of super-pigs.
4 is for all the awesome printers in Seattle.
5 is not always glamorous.
6 feet under is where the party is.
7 belongs to the lovable double agents.
8 is octopulous spectacula.
9 is more than a foxy trickster.

I Left My Heart in San Francisco
Compostmodern was absolutely awesome and inspiring. I'm also very happy that I was able to spent some time around the city this weekend - reminded me the summer days of '89, when I first fell in love with San Francisco......
